gondolas...or something

My scarf is vintage Liz Claiborne, and the purse is also vintage (they were putting it in the "bad" purse box at work to be thrown away...ahh! Good thing I saved it!). These amazing blue gladiator heels are from Charlotte Russe (yay for awesome and cheap shoes!!!), and everything else is thrifted.

I don't know about you, but I feel as though I could be one of those people on the river in Italy using those big sticks to push people on boats...gondolas, or know.

I am so excited...tomorrow I'm leaving to go on vacation with my boyfriend! We're going to visit his family in Michigan...on a sweet farm...yeah. I've never gone with my boyfriend before, so I'm muy excited! I brought my suitcases up to my room, but that is the extent of my packing so far (we're leaving at 4am tomorrow morning)...oops. Maybe I should get started with that. I will try to keep updated while away, but I may be distracted by the insane amount of relaxing I'll be doing...

whether it rains or shines...'s just a state of mind...

We had the most wonderful stormy morning! I love the it love it love it!

I am wearing a pencil skirt that is two sizes too big - poo. I'm also wearing my lovely lovely wellies and carrying a great big bag I discovered at a rummage sale for $1.

I guess with the floral umbrella (bumbershoot!), floral scarf, and big bag, I was going for kind of a Mary Poppins-esque outfit...spoonful of sugar anyone?

All these pictures were taken with the self timer...kind of hard to do with limited space for setting the camera, but I loooove the results!

a green skirt

This is what I wore to my boyfriend's tonight...we made sketchy chicken sanwiches and watched What Women Want (hehheh).

I got this skirt from work (the thrift store) - it's handmade and was donated with a bunch of other skirts made from the same skirt pattern with different fabrics (I snatched them all up). They're lovely, and they also make great dresses when they're pulled up above the bust!

Okay, I'm doing a poll to see if I should publish larger pictures in my outfit posts. I like that the bigger pics show more detail without having to click on them, but then I'm afraid that they'll take a long time to load on some people's lovely readers, the choice is yours, take the poll to the right. Gras!

Today was a beautiful day. I rode my pink bicycle around the lake and soaked in the summery-ness...mmm...

Here is what I wore to do so...
I am wearing very short shorts (not very quality for bike riding...), a purple tank, and a sheer top over. I am carrying a vintage purse and wearing vintage jewellry and shoes.

Here is what I wore to the bookstore job today...
Not very exciting, but it got the job done.

to harry

Went with Melissa and the fam to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince tonight. It was good...needless to say, the book was much better, but...

Here's what I wore to the theatre...
I am in love with these boots already...I know they're going to be very useful come fall and winter.

your heart starts beating like a big brass band...

Had a quite full and hectic day today...watched my bro play tennis, then went off to my dad's bookstore and bought books (yay!). I got this amazing smoothie book (bargain book...score!) and one about dreams (also a bargain book...yeah!) Then we were off to my grandma's for a small get together before Melissa has to leave on Thursday.

Here are our outfits...

I buttoned this vest the wrong way on purpose - I think it gives it a cool rocker-ish rebel-ish effect. Plus leopard print jeans plus HOT peeptoe booties.

Please excuse my early morning rambling...I'm off to bed!

a scrappy girl

I'd like to thank C. Elizabeth and Natalia for this lovely award...and now for the hard part...10 honest things about myself...

  1. I love to read. I am a bookworm and I am not ashamed of it - books are always good accessories. I love every genre, especially historical fiction and mystery. I am currently reading Holy Blood, Holy Grail by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, and Henry Lincoln (and also Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich...I am totally Stephanie Plum!).
  2. I read Postsecret every Sunday and sometimes make my boyfriend read them from his house at the same time I'm reading them.
  3. I don't shave my legs in the winter...shhhh don't tell.
  4. If I could go back to any period in time, it would be to the time of the American Revolution. I would probably dress in boys clothes (yeah breeches and tricorn hats) and join the militia.
  5. I love scary books and movies, but I can only read/watch them when someone else is home during the day. I get so scared that I can't even walk down my own hallway without freaking out!
  6. When I play Pacman for Gamecube with my brother, I always use the purple controller. I am, by the way, complete rubbish at every other game, especially racing wonder they want me to play all the time - so they can win!
  7. I have a halfway written novel about a woman pirate.
  8. I love my small boobs, even though big ones are seen as "hotter" and even if it is hard to hold up a strapless dress.
  9. I cry like a baby every time the phantom smashes the mirrors at the end of The Phantom of the Opera.
  10. I have a mint julep mask on at the moment and look like a bit of a freak.

So there you have it...ten honest things about me...I never thought it would be that hard...
I am going to pass this awesome award on to

Syana of Eurasian Persuasion
Weesha of Weesha's World
Melsa of Diary of a Curvy Fashionista
Jayne of Plain Jayne
Jenny of Sidewalks are Runways
Nadine of Strawberry Kitten
Hippiegirl of Street Inspiration

Now, the rules of this tag are

  1. You must link back to the person who tagged you
  2. You must, in turn, link to at least seven other bloggers who deserve this award
  3. You must leave a comment for these bloggers so they know they've been tagged
  4. And, of course, you must list 10 honest things about yourself

I hope you guys learned something new and visit the aforementioned blogs because they are also amazing!

all dressed up and nowhere to go...

The two of us had a mini picture-taking spree which persuaded us to put on cute dresses and pose. Here are the results...

This is what we wore out to lunch...

This is an amazing full length red sequin gown that I found whilst sorting donated clothes at work. It's one of those items of clothing that you know you will probably never wear...but wouldn't you hate to see another person walk out with it? Yes? Yes. And plus it was a mere $3...hehehe.

This blue dress that Melissa is wearing is a beautiful blue brocade with netting underneath it so it will puff out so beautifully.

Also, Melissa has decided to start a fashion blog of her own after seeing how inspiring and just all around awesome they are, so I'm sure she would love you to visit...

dedicated to b.j.e.

Apparently, according to Brandon, this is an "80's outfit." I'm not sure if I see that right away when I look at it, but, hey, at least he appreciates my style and my birth decade! Plus, it feels extra good when it's a guy commenting on your outfit.

Anyhoo...this is what I wore today...Thanks to my boyfriend for donating these old jeans to me...and thanks for Charlie Brown for making this shirt possible.

free fallin'

I've been having a week of fun...I'll try to tell you all in words and we go.

On Monday, we had a blast shopping. H&M was having the most amazing sales ever! We bought these dresses, which we wore to dinner the next night. (Mine was $15 marked down from $50!)

Then, on Wednesday, we went to Honey Acres (a honey of a museum) wearing these outfits (it was a bit chilly, hence my pants and long sleeves).

Then, that night, we changed for bowling and pool...

On Thursday, we went to the Mt. Horeb Mustard Museum...

And after the Mustard Museum, we went to the Cave of the Mounds (check out our hot cave-walking shoes!)

Finally, today, we visited the Milwaukee Public Museum - yay! The Butterfly Garden was my favorite...

So...a week of cool outfits, fun, and spending loads of money...I'm exhausted, but having the time of my life!
