a cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition

It has been said that patience is virtue. I have also learned that patience can save you big bucks on, say, a beautiful pair of shoes. For example, I had been drooling over these brown booties since the beginning of spring but was hesitant about spending $40 on them. I almost bought them several times, but always resisted because of the price. Then, last weekend, my boyfriend and I ventured to the mall. We wandered into Charlotte Russe and to my joy (and disbelief) these shoes were on sale for $10 - and they even had one pair left in my size!

I don't know if this happened to any of you, but when I was small, my mother dressed me in socks with frills at the top. At the time, I hated them (they were so uncool!). But lately, I've been finding myself wishing I had some of those very socks in grown up sizes. Of course, no one caters these kinds of socks to adults, so I had to make my own. They were very easy to make, and turned out just the way I imagined them.

I recently read an article about how to get more wear out of your clothes. One tip it did not include - wear something inside out. It's a great way to change up the color and style of a piece. I'm wearing this dress inside out. I wanted the style of the dress, but not all of the color. This was a great way to keep the silhouette and mute the palette.

dress (worn as a skirt) - H&M
blouse - vintage
hat -vintage Middleton
shoes - Charlotte Russe
belt - vintage
clutch - vintage
socks - my own design
sunglasses - vintage

Thanks ever so much to my talented boyfriend, the snapper of these photos.

Hahaha, my mother did the same thing! And I didn't like it either, but now it's something that catches my attention , because they are pretty and girlie. I love the way they look on you, and I love your hat as well. There is something about straw hats that just screams Summer, isn't there?!

I should try wear my clothes in different ways. I love the idea of layering tops over dresses. Those looks great. I thought AA sold socks with lace.

Love these shoes! And I would snap them up for $10 (:i know that american apparel do some socks similar to these, but it's worth making them yourself, as aa tends to be quite expensive...
