she had wheels on her feet

I completely failed when it came to finding cute brightly colored strings for my thrifted roller skates so I had to resort to hiking-boot strings, and you can guess that they looked less than lovely. So, today I came up with a (dare I say...brilliant?) plan on how to change up the look. Since I don't have pierced ears, I wear clip-on earrings, and since I love pretty (and cheap) things, I have acquired many pairs of them. So, what I decided to do was to clip my earrings onto the strings of my roller skates.

If anyone had wondered, my shirt is supposed to look like Michael Jackson's jacket in the Beat It video. Hm, I'd probably have so say that that is my favorite of his music videos...what about you?

I wanted super hero-esque wrist cuffs, so I donned three, one larger one and then two on the other wrist to try and match the size.

Oh, and I got these glasses in the sunglasses section. They are a bit reflective. Are they sunglasses? I bought them because I thought they were sunglasses, but no one else seems to think they are.

this love I can feel

Earmuff style headphones will always be the epitome of "hip and with it" to me. I love putting mine on and just leaving the real world for the world that the sounds create. I was feeling a little edgy today, and that was definitely transferred to my outfit. I dusted silver eye shadow on up to my eyebrows, grabbed my 'phones and danced out the door.

I can't believe that today marks one year since Michael Jackson's death. I am truly inspired by him - his music and movement, style, generosity, kindness, and his passion for life. He was a wonderful man and his music will live in my heart forever.

"In the end, the most important thing is to be true to yourself and those you love...Be best at what you do. Get to know more about your field than anybody alive. Use the tools of your trade, if it's books or a floor to dance on or a body of water to swim in. Whatever it is, it's yours. That's what I've always tried to remember."

don't know what I will but until I can find me

This has been one of my go to outfits lately when I've had zero time to plan or pick an outfit. I love how the colors go together and I love the way the shirt drapes over the cinched waist of the skirt.

I have been obsessed with top knots for the past month or two...their so easy breezy and fun to accessorize with flowers, feathers, ect. (Also I have a weird habit of biting my lip when waiting for self-timed pictures...what a knob.)

gonna make our own lightning

Ah, the final outfit I wore on our trip. Of course, the day we were driving home the sun finally came That's ok, though, we played around a bit before returning - pinball, more mini golf, last minute antique shop stopping, and eating lunch at a park in Jacksonport.

This dress was made for Door County - the crisp colors and the iconic cherry print just scream for the Nor Door. Pairing the outfit with bright red lipstick and an ice cold Jones' Soda made a perfect combination.

floral headband - my own design

It's always hard for me to pack for trips - planning outfits and accessories around them is so being prepared weather-wise can be a problem, too. I hope you enjoyed the outfits I chose for my little vacation.

we kindle and char, inflame and ignite

Here's my Door County Day 3 outfit...basically almost the same as yesterdays, but with a few changes. We ventured all the way to Gills Rock (the tippy top of the Wisconsin's peninsula) to play in the rain and take pictures. We also visited Cana Island Lighthouse and played mini golf at Pirate's Cove so I definitely was feeling the nautical vibe when I picked this outfit. (By the way, I'm ace at mini golf.)

I love history, especially U.S. history, so when I found this necklace at my local antique store I almost hugged one of the vendors. It was made for me, I swear.

find us a dream that don't ask no questions

Here's my Door County Day 2 outfit...a bit rainy and gray, but we didn't need to worry. Luckily, when we stopped at the Olde Orchard Antique Mall we found a couple vintage umbrellas (including a vintage Burberry in the traditional brown plaid for $2.99!) to shield us from the drops. After eating at Wilson's we hopped over to the marina across the street for some photos.

I was a little bit of a walking billboard for H&M for most of the trip - 3 out of 4 of my outfits were based around H&M dresses. They are so easy to throw on and accessorize around, plus they are very wallet friendly. The most expensive one was only $17.95!

This is the purse I used every day on the's so little and easy to carry cross body. Plus it's cute and looks good with a lot of outfits.

I was so glad I brought a pair of tights...they definitely help keep your legs warmer on chilly rainy days!

with a moo moo here and a moo moo there

Well, finally we're back home after a little vacation to Door County. I was going to do a post with all the outfits and everything (I tried to do some on the trip, but the campground we were at had Wi-fi that was as slow as...well something very slow) but I decided to just devote a whole post to each day we spent. So here is our first day!

The Farm - probably my favorite thing about Door County. Here I am armed and ready to feed the cute little goats and lambs...

One of the aforementioned lambs...

I think this is a Texas Longhorn...I was feeding it and it got me with its long tongue! So my boyfriend, of course, snapped a photo.

Then we visited Cave Point County Park. Even though it was a gray day (they all were), it was still beautiful. And it was chilly, hence the big comfy sweater.

My boyfriend (and photographer) against Lake Michigan.

I am in love with this nail's Nicole by OPI's Peas and Q's.

I've been wanting to make a pretty floral crown since the beginning of spring and I finally did! It was really simple to make and it turned out beautifully...sometime I will do a DIY post so you can make your own...

watching every move on her face

I was totally psyched to find this gorgeous vintage boater hat at my favorite antique haunt the other day...for only $19! I like that it's a manly size because with my big hair growing out, it's hard for most of my hats to stay on!

[And...what an opportune time for me to spill green nail polish all over my yellow quilt...]

Anyways...I've been about living in these spandex shorts (yay for old volleyball uniforms...) for the past week...they're so comfy and they're easy to pair with almost anything.

I made this necklace a while's supposed to be a bird flying in front of a water fall sorta thing.

shirt - thrifted Simply Vera by Vera Wang
shorts - Athletech
necklace - my own design
hat - vintage Middleton (the "Roswelle Hat")

Oh, and I almost forgot...this lipstick is a shade I made by mixing up an orangey coral color with more of a black cherry color...I like it!

On Sunday my boyfriend and I are hittin' the road to Door much excitement.
