social networking and all that

I just wanted to take a brief moment to let you all know that I am making some changes 'round here, so please pardon my dust if you visit and things look a bit wonky.  Also, I've joined a few networking sites...mmmalittlelateiknow. To see what has been inspiring me lately, check out my Pinterest. To stay updated on the cute things my cat does (and other things like decorating my van, outfit post outtakes, and door county amazingness), hit up my Instagram. Lastly, I've resurrected my Twitter account that I opened waaaaay back in 2009, WOW. Before this I believed myself to be semi-tech savvy, but now I'm not so sure. But DAMN DO I FEEL CONNECTED. Phew. Ok, now I'm gonna go back to tweeting about a picture I just posted on Instagram and pinned simultaneously to the board I Have No Life Now. XO

that flighty temptress, adventure

Well, it's official - fall has arrived. The chill in the air that was just flirting with us a few weeks ago is finally here to stay. I was a bit sad thinking about how quickly the summer passed, but then I dug out my box of scarves and mittens and got over summer real quick. Fall always seems to be a fresh start for me, maybe because my birthday comes around and I start to think about new beginnings and what the next year might hold in store. I have a few goals in mind I'd like to accomplish before I turn twenty-five, like starting to learn how to play the violin, taking my van out on a road trip, and planning an overseas voyage. Twenty-four seems like it will be a year full of adventures, and I can't wait to share them all with you!

why I'll never wear sweatpants to bed again

Thanks to a shift in my work schedules I have a few more mornings off each week, and with this extra time off I am quickly learning to better appreciate my little collection of thrifted and vintage nightgowns and pajamas. I have never actually bought anything like that new because a) I'm not usually looking for nightwear and b) even if I didn't stumble upon something pretty, chances are I would consider it too expensive for something I couldn't (shouldn't) wear out of the house. However, the racks at the local thrift stores have proven to be a treasure trove of beautiful pieces for mere dollars. I have found absolutely gorgeous vintage nightgowns, nighties with matching robes, and lots of pretty pajama sets that are more often than not made of pure silk and seem hardly worn. They're easy to bring home and toss in the wash, and in a matter of hours they're clean and hanging off the hooks on the back of my door waiting for me to come home from work and slip into something a little more comfortable. And, I'm not gonna lie, lazing about in something silky makes me feel a whole lot sexier than wearing the same ol' sweats and threadbare tees every night.

wake me up when it's all over

Today I opened up a box of my cold-weather clothing I had hastily put out of sight and mind once spring finally came around. I pulled out a whole armful of velvet and lovingly laid each piece out for inspection. I can not WAIT for the weather to be consistently cool enough to justify more velvet...though I am still thoroughly enjoying the last glorious summer nights!

Little Witch of John's Point

If you wander out far enough on John's Point, you may catch a glimpse of the witch who lives in a small cottage there. She's old and haggard, but beware! In the blink of an eye she can transform herself into a young woman in order to fool unsuspecting passersby. You'll know her by that unruly mane and the dimple in her chin. She won't utter a word, but if you listen closely, some nights you may hear her chanting as she dances 'round her fire.
