happenings 4/13 - 4/20, 2014

So, remember last week when I said the snow is finally almost all gone!? Well, haha, mother nature decided that we needed a bit more because the very next day it snowed. All day. And the next day, too. The week was white. But it's raining today, so hopefully that will be the end of snow for the year. *Knocks on wood.* *Does rain dance.* *Shakes fist toward the sky threateningly.* *Apologizes.* Anyhoo...

I don't own a TV and I haven't for a few years now. I absolutely love how freeing it is to not a) have to have a TV take up room looking ghastly on the wall, and b) be tempted to watch it for hours a day. FREEING. I find that I read more books, take more photos, have more time to workout, play Battleship, watch tutorials on YouTube...time for all the things! However, my local libraries do have a vast DVD selection that I like to peruse now and then. I bring them home and just watch them on my laptop and that is quite enough to keep me entertained for a while. This past week I watched The Conjuring, which came out last year (I had no idea!), and guys, this is the best horror movie I HAVE EVER SEEN. It's definitely my kind of horror - supernatural, thrilling, mind f-ing, and it totally had me jumping out of my seat at times. Oh, and it's also based on a true story. What?! Yeah. Also, I think I am coming down with a woman crush on Vera Farmiga. While that movie I would recommend highly, I would also recommend NEVER wasting your time watching Knowing. Literally the worst movie I have ever seen.

Randomly stumbled onto this video from Kiesza. This had about two million hits when I first watched it and that has more than doubled in the last few days (they can't all be from me, people)! I can't believe this is done in only one take - my mind is blown. This girl is gonna be huuuuuuuge. I am OBsessed with her faux hawks and you better believe I will totally be channeling that look soon. (See my faux hawk tutorial here.)

Reading The Traitor's Wife by Allison Pataki. Love me some historical fiction.

Thrifting some pretty vintage Coach purses. My favorite!

P.S. Check out this gorgeous portrait by Carly Watts! She just made little Luna look as cute as can be.

I wish I had the willpower to get rid of my TV. I'm sure I would be 100% more productive.

And OH MY GOD thank you for sharing that song. It's amazing. I'm listening to it right now!

Oh man, The Conjuring freaked me out so bad...I saw it in theaters with some friends and when we got back to my apartment, we dragged the mattresses out into the living room and watched Disney movies until we could fall asleep xD
Lol definitely a good horror movie!
Also, way to cut TV out! We don't get any channels, so we just use ours for DVDs too. Although we recently got Netflix, and dude...that's worse than TV... -_-

The Dragonfruit Diaries

i totally get the not having a tv being freeing feeling, i've not had one for years as well:-) although, having an enormous amount of tv shows to watch online and being the one who decides how much and when to watch is a bit of an issue for me, haha! also, that picture is lovely, so many pretty items! xx
