the dead who groaned within

Some sepulcher, remote, alone,
Against whose portal she hath thrown,
In childhood, many an idle stone -
Some tomb from out whose sounding door
She ne'er shall force an echo more,
Thrilling to think, poor child of sin!
It was the dead who groaned within.

-Edgar Allan Poe, The Sleeper

This gave me chills and goosebumps - but in the best way. Amazing poem and incredible photography and make-up skills. Wow... !

that third pictured was shocking and difficult to look at, but that is what makes good art: eliciting emotion and provoking thought. this poem is beautifully macabre (only poe!) and the photo sequence is a stunning interpretation. i agree with other comments that the last photo is particularly lovely. xo
